About me

Hello, I’m Nat Dyer.

I am a freelance writer based in London. I’m writing a book on how orthodox economics has often blinded us to human, social, and ecological realities based around the life and ideas of the ‘true’ founder of modern economics: David Ricardo.

My writing has appeared in Open Democracy, Philosophy Now, Resurgence & Ecologist, SPERI and Oxford University.

Previously, I was a campaign leader and anti-corruption investigator at Global Witness. My stories have been reported on Channel 4 News, the BBC and the New York Times among others and have sparked government investigations and sanctions in the US, Canada and the Democratic Republic of Congo. I have also worked for Rainforest Foundation UK and IIED on land rights and forest conversation and in the ‘new economics’ movement with Promoting Economic Pluralism (PEP).

I’m deeply interest in the history of ideas, especially in the cross-fertilisation of ideas between physics, biology and the social sciences. I have a degree in history and a masters in international politics. I love getting out into nature, getting my hands dirty in the garden, playing with my kids, and exploring new worlds and ideas in books.

In my writing, I aim to explore solutions to the global environmental and economic crises by showcasing new ways of looking the world. Read more here.

If you’d like to discuss any of the ideas featured on my website, please get in touch.

All the best,

Nat
